Something

8yo: Mama, do you wanna know something?

Me: Tell me.

8 tells me a newly discovered gem from his day in school. He explains that if he finds a pot of gold, he will share it with people who don’t have food or shelter.

Me: Wow, that is so big of you. You have a beautiful heart.

In the span of 30 minutes, 8 proceeds to ask me somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 times, “Mama, do you wanna know something?”

My cup overflows, my heart is near bursting for his joy.

Me: My brain is so full of somethings that I don’t think I can fit another one in right now. How about we save some of the somethings for dinner time?

8: Ok mama.

(5-second silence)

8: Mama, you wanna know something?
